The body of Mr. Damant, a British Political Officer, who was killed on 13th October 1870 at Khonoma village in Nagaland was brought back to Kohima by Major Johnstone, a military commandar. His body was buried in the garden of Deputy Commissioner's house with due ceremonials. A cairn stone marks the inscribed spot.
